If you’re in the European Union, the wider European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, data protection law gives you specific rights over your personal data. This page explains those rights and how to use them with Techlude. It works alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes everything we collect.
The short version
- Techlude is the controller of the personal data we collect through techlude.com.
- You can ask to see, correct, delete, restrict or move your data, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time.
- Requests are free, and we answer within one month.
- You can complain to your data protection authority at any time.
Who is responsible for your data
Techlude (techlude.com) is run by Lokesh Kapoor from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, and is the “controller” of the personal data described in our Privacy Policy. That means we decide why and how your data is used. You can reach us through our contact page.
What we use your data for, and why
The GDPR requires a legal basis for each use of personal data. Here are ours:
| What we do | Data involved | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Deliver the website and keep it secure | IP address, browser and device details, security logs | Legitimate interests: running a working, secure website |
| Reply to your message | Name, email address, message, IP address | Legitimate interests: answering the people who contact us |
| Publish and moderate comments | Name, email address, website, comment, IP address | Legitimate interests: running a moderated comment section you chose to use |
| Count article views and short-link clicks | View totals; click records with IP address, device and referring page | Legitimate interests: understanding which articles and links are useful |
| Remember bookmarks and followed topics | Random identifier, saved items, IP address | Legitimate interests: providing a feature you chose to use |
| Show ads (Google AdSense) | Cookie identifiers, IP address and browsing activity, processed by Google | Consent, where required. Without it, Google shows non-personalised or limited ads |
| Show our videos (YouTube) | Cookie identifiers, IP address and device data, processed by Google | Legitimate interests: showing our own videos on our pages |
| Meet legal obligations | Whatever a lawful request covers | Legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we’ve weighed them against your rights, and you can object at any time.
Your rights
- To be informed. To know what we collect and why. This page and our Privacy Policy do that.
- Of access. To get a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- To rectification. To have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
- To erasure. To have your data deleted, for example a comment or a message you sent us.
- To restrict processing. To ask us to pause using your data while a concern is sorted out.
- To data portability. To receive data you gave us in a common, machine-readable format.
- To object. To object to processing based on our legitimate interests. We’ll stop unless we have compelling grounds that override your interests.
- To withdraw consent. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time, as easily as you gave it.
- About automated decisions. We don’t make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.
How to make a request
- Send your request through our contact page. Tell us which right you want to use and the name and email address you used with us.
- We may ask you to confirm your identity, so we never hand your data to someone else.
- Requests are free. We reply within one month. If a request is complex, we may extend this by up to two more months, and we’ll tell you why.
- If we can’t do what you ask, we’ll explain why.
Cookies and consent
Our Cookie Policy lists every cookie on the site. Google shows personalised ads to visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland only where the required consent is in place; otherwise it shows non-personalised or limited ads. You can turn off personalised ads in Google Ads Settings, and block or delete cookies in your browser at any time.
International transfers
Techlude is based in India and our website is hosted in the United States, so your data is processed outside the EU, the UK and Switzerland. Our providers protect transfers with safeguards recognised under data protection law, such as standard contractual clauses or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Complaints
Please contact us first, so we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, especially in the country where you live or work:
- EU and EEA: find your national authority on the European Data Protection Board website.
- United Kingdom: the Information Commissioner’s Office.
- Switzerland: the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
Readers in India have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, which our Privacy Policy explains.
